Golfing in Reykjavik is extremely seasonal and at its absolute best during the summer months, when you can actually play in the morning, afternoon, evening and even at night, since the sun barely sets at this time of the year. Reykjavik's midnight sun and long daylight hours means that the surrounding golf courses are rarely crowded and most do not require any reservations in advance.

The golf courses within the Reykjavik area of Iceland boast some of the country's most spectacular scenery, with ocean views, mountainous backdrops and even distant lava fields. Particularly popular is the Reykjavik Golf Club, which was founded in the 1930s and was recently renovated in 2004. This club is actually Iceland's oldest and the region's biggest, and comprises two individual 18-hole golf courses, along with cart hire, affordable green fees and professional golfing shops.




Also worth noting and close to Reykjavik is the Golf Club Nes, which is situated in nearby Seltjarnarnes and known for also being an important wildlife reserve for Icelandic and migrating birds. This par-36 course features just nine holes and so a round here can be relatively quick if you are short of time.
